Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Sealr, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Sealr.
2. What Sealr is
Sealr is an end-to-end encrypted messaging service. It lets you send messages, photos, videos, voice notes, and files, and lets the sender attach rules (view limits, expiry, geofence, watermark, screenshot lock, revoke). These rules are best-effort on the recipient's device. Recording a message with another camera, taking screenshots on hardware that bypasses operating-system protections, or other physical-world copies are outside our technical control.
3. Who can use Sealr
You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age required in your country). If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
4. Your account
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials, device, and recovery key secret.
- All activity that happens under your account.
- Telling us if you suspect your account has been compromised: security@sealr.chat.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Sealr to:
- Send illegal content, including child sexual abuse material, content that incites violence, or content that violates intellectual-property rights.
- Harass, defame, threaten, dox, or otherwise harm other users.
- Send unsolicited bulk messages (spam) or run automated abuse.
- Attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service or its security.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Use the service to violate any law applicable to you.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice. Severe abuse may be reported to the relevant authorities.
6. Content ownership
You own the content you send through Sealr. You grant us a limited, worldwide licence to transmit, store (in encrypted form), and deliver that content for the purpose of providing the service.
7. Service availability
We work hard to keep Sealr available but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, outages, third-party failures, and force-majeure events can all interrupt the service. We are not liable for messages that fail to deliver due to such events.
8. Disclaimers
Sealr is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of Sealr.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email. Continued use of Sealr after the change means you accept the new Terms.
11. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings. We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy and, where applicable, the European Union, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Italy, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence.
