Delete your account
Option 1 — delete it yourself in the app
This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately. In Sealr:
- Open Settings.
- Scroll to the Danger zone and tap Delete account…
- Confirm with Permanently delete account.
Your account is erased straight away. You do not need to contact us, and there is no waiting period.
Option 2 — request deletion by email
If you can no longer sign in or have already removed the app, email us and we will delete the account for you. Write from the email address registered on the account, or tell us the phone number you signed up with, so we can verify that the account is yours.
Account deletion requests privacy@sealr.chatWe confirm ownership and complete the deletion within 30 days, and usually within a couple of business days. We will email you once it is done.
What is deleted
Deleting your account removes all of the following from Sealr's systems, permanently:
- Your sign-in credentials and account record (email address and phone number).
- Your profile and nickname.
- Your encryption keys and your encrypted recovery vault.
- Every message you sent, along with the encrypted photos, videos, voice notes and documents attached to them.
- Your uploaded media and thumbnails in encrypted storage.
- Your media activity records, share links and view counters.
- Your chat invitations, block lists and trust records.
- Your push notification tokens, so no device can receive Sealr notifications afterwards.
- Your membership of any group chat.
Because Sealr is end-to-end encrypted and your keys are destroyed as part of this process, any residual encrypted fragment is permanently unreadable — by you, by the people you messaged, and by us.
What stays, and why
- Messages other people sent you. Those belong to the sender's account, so they remain with the sender. In a one-to-one chat the other person keeps the conversation and their own messages; everything you sent into it is removed.
- Messages reported for abuse. If a message you sent has been reported, we retain that message so we can investigate and to meet our legal obligations. It is not used for any other purpose.
- Copies already saved by a recipient. If someone was permitted to download or save something you sent before you deleted your account, that copy is on their device and outside our control.
- Operational logs. Server logs that may contain your account identifier and timestamps are deleted automatically within 30 days. They never contain message content.
